Motion Pro 08-0294 Deluxe Suspension Bearing Service Tool Review

This is my first time replacing linkage bearings, or any dirtbike suspension work for that matter. But I recently bought a 99 kx250 and am trying to go through all of the steps you vets know and do on a regular basis to keep your machines running smoothly. So while replacing all of the bearings and seals in the bottom end, I decided I would look at the suspension bearings. Swingarm was fine, still relatively clean grease and all the bearings were spinning smoothly with no scratching or catching so repacked those. The linkage bearings were pretty immobile so I researched new bearing sets. Went with the pivot works because I heard all balls was crap, but that's all hearsay. I also heard that it didn't matter because they were going to get beat up and dirty anyway.

So I started watching how-to videos and every single one the guy was fighting for their life against these bearings. I'm about to move across the country and I'm trying to get everything back together before then so I didn't really feel like a fight for your life type situation... Then I see the Motion Pro bearing tool. I'm rambling, I must be excited. Sorry.

The tool worked great. I didn't have to use the blind bearing puller but I'm sure it will get some use at some point. The idea is a long open bolt and two nuts and washers that you put specialty "sockets" on and the bearing to be pulled in the middle. Looks like about a 30mm and an array of smaller mm sockets. If you were on a budget, you could make one from home depot (minus the blind bearing puller) for probably somewhere around $30. I sprayed some PB Blaster on all of the bearings to be pulled and started after them. I don't have a table vise so I c-clamped an adjustable wrench to my work table and used a long 19mm (with the bar from my floor jack as a breaker bar) on the other end. Bearings came right out. The lower shock bearing press was not long enough so I had to use a different socket to get it the rest of the way out.

All in all, good tool. Based on the extent of my use, I would recommend. If you are on a tight budget, you can fight with it or try to make one specific to your needs from HD or lowes.

Update. I was excited to see that the bearing press was supposed to extend into the bearing to keep the needles from coming out but there isn't one that fits the lower shock bearing for my 99 kx250. That made me an angry face for a minute and of course the needles fell out but it wasn't that much of a pain to get them back in and the bearings went in like pressing butter into a hole.
