"DENSO uses expertise to produce their First Time Fit line of pumps." Now if they had just used this expertise on this particular fuel pump. When I went shopping for a fuel pump one thing I did NOT want was "universal" that requires modification to fit and work with my car. I wanted something that an -exact fit-. Amazon's search engine told me that this fit my car, but I can't blame them, they accept what the manufacturer tells them. This should NOT include "universal" gear that may require modification to the vehicle's electrical or fuel supply system. Which this does. It's a 2-prong connector on the pump, and it comes with a 2-prong connector with "blank" wires coming off it. My 2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V has a 5-prong connector on the fuel pump. All 4 wires are black except one which has a blue stripe on it (going from memory here and I was kinda livid when I discovered this, so don't quote me on that). I could look up the electrical wiring diagram somewhere, I'm sure, and splice on the correct wires. But the fuel hose doesn't look like it will fit either, though I didn't try to fit it on.
I had several other things on the car to fix first, so by the time I got to this pump it was beyond the 30-day return policy, so I'm stuck with a $130 lump of useless metal. I guess I get what I pay for, eh? The auto parts store I went to get to get a replacement had the same pump listed as "Exact Fit" as well, but even the store clerk said they get them returned all the time from people as angry as me for the same reason. The only one he had that was truly exact fit was $300. Killed the remainder of my paycheck for the month and then some, but fit neatly and easily, both physically and electrically/fuel...hose...ily. New word. Lemme alone, I'm mad and not typing straight.
Now for the transmission... >.<
