Fit fine in my 2003 Golf, wasn't too hard to swap out. Just take off the belt (see below), take off the two mounting screws and then take off the small wire plug and big power wire lug.

Just had to figure out how to take off the serpentine belt, which by the way you simply do by putting a 16mm wrench (i used 5/8) on the tensioner and pulling it towards the front of the car and sliding the belt off...
