I shopped two years before buying these kneeguards. When I ordered them, I knew plastic would be the main material. I put them on and take them off carefully. The top strap on the right guard broke off with no way to fix it. I now use a large tie wrap to secure the guard in place. I ordered small/medium. My calf is a tight fit, but this should help keep the guard in place. I think they offer good to great protection. If they protect me once, I'll consider it money well spent.
