This is an excellent muffler with negligible back pressure. Depending on what is connected to the out-side the sound level can range from factory stock quiet to a noticeable low pitched performance rumble with beautiful high performance tone at high RPMs. We installed this on a 2004 Ford F150 pickup truck with the 5.4L Triton engine. We replaced the factory 2-1/2" exhaust from the Y-connection with 3" all the way back and this muffler. With a 3" 90 degree turn exiting in front of the rear tire, the sound quality was factory quiet, even quieter than some stock Dodge pickups. With a short 3" output tube with a wide oval down-turn the sound became the high performance rumble we were looking for. We are looking forward to more experiments with the output tube to see what other sound variations we can create. You can see straight through this muffler from in to out. It is a chambered muffler with no fiberglass or other packing to wear out. The case is VERY strong and readily supports exhaust hangers welded on. I would definitely buy another one of these. Even though this is less than half the size of the stock muffler it is still pretty big. 8" diameter by 24" long is bigger than I imagined. It was still easy to fit since we were replacing such a monster-sized factory muffler.
