We've owned a OEM Mini bike rack for several years and have just loved it. After getting a second bike, we needed a second rack. Since we liked our old rack, we bought another one just like it. Except it isn't like it at all. Mini seems to have changed their design. The old rack had a ratcheting rear strap and a quick release mechanism for the fork. The new rack (this one) has a relatively cheap looking nylon strap and buckle in back, but its biggest problem is that instead of a quick release mechanism, the new fork mount is a large knob that has to be screwed and unscrewed to open and close the fork attachment. It is definitely not convenient.

Note: the picture shown for this product is a picture of the old style rack, not the current one. We got fooled by that.

The rack is probably a decent rack if you want that style. We didn't.

New 12 Ton Ram Hydraulic Floor Shop Press with Steel Press Plates & Ram Carriage Review

I got this press to use as a balsa wood structure tester for a middle school competition team. The stand took about 30 minutes to put together. It was actually fairly easy, but the instructions were a little vague. I probably spent more time trying to figure out what the instructions were trying to tell me what to do, than I did putting the pieces together. A good picture would have been more helpful.

The press is very easy to use. Just pump the bottle jack to apply a force down, and when done crack the valve on the base of the bottle jack and the springs bring the upper plate back to the high position.

For the tester, I just made a wood stand to set a high capacity scale on that sits on the bottom (black) brace, put the structure or pieces of on the scale and use the press to apply a force. This works very well. The kids have tested wood, glues (by crushing bonded joints), and many structure designs. Unlike with a bar bell plate (weight) based tester, this hydraulic one isn't as destructive when the structures fail, so the kids can usually figure out what part or feature failed first, which really helps them iterate their designs quickly to achieve higher loads.

I've only applied 1,000 lbs during a test run of the wood stand and scale I'd added, so I don't know what the press's performance would be at higher levels. At the 1,000 lb level, the bottle jack was still quite easy to pump, and there was no noticeable bending of the frame.
